The United Bees

In a vast flower field stretching at the foot of Mount Merbabu, there lived a colony of bees known as the Nusantara Honey Bees. They lived in a large hive hanging from an old banyan tree, under the shade of thick leaves. The wise Queen Bee, Queen Sekar, led with great affection. However, bitter memories still lingered in the hearts of the bees. Three years ago, their colony was attacked by a group of fierce wasps from across the valley. Many bees were injured, and some even lost their lives. Since then, Queen Sekar always reminded her people to stay united and vigilant.

In the middle of the colony, there lived two close bee friends: Bima and Cici. Bima was a brave but slightly careless male bee, while Cici was a smart and creative female bee. They were always together, searching for nectar and joking around. One day, as they flew near the river, they heard a strange rumbling sound. "What is that?" asked Bima, his eyes wide. Cici frowned. "It seems to come from the teak forest. Let's go see!"

They flew closer to the source of the sound. It turned out that a group of termites was cutting down teak trees with their strong jaws. "Hey, what are you doing?" shouted Bima. The termite leader, named Karto, answered arrogantly, "We are building a new palace. These trees will be felled!" Cici and Bima looked at each other. They knew that if the teak forest was gone, the flower field would lose shelter and food sources. "We must stop them!" whispered Cici.

They hurried back to the hive and reported to Queen Sekar. The Queen listened carefully, then said, "We must act. However, we cannot fight alone. We need to unite with other bee colonies." The Queen then sent messengers to the Forest Bee colony, the Mountain Bee colony, and the Garden Bee colony. However, the messengers returned with bad news: the other colonies were reluctant to help because they still held old grudges. A few years ago, during a drought, the Nusantara Honey Bees had competed for water sources with the Forest Bees.

Bima and Cici felt hopeless. But Cici remembered an ancient story about bees uniting against a hurricane. "We must convince them that unity is more important than the past," said Cici. The two then flew to the Forest Bee colony. There, they were greeted coldly by the Forest Queen. Cici politely bowed and said, "Forgive us for what happened before. We come not to bring up the past, but to save our shared home. Those termites will destroy the forest, and you will also lose your home."

The Forest Queen was silent. Bima added with a bit of humor, "If the forest is gone, you won't have a place to dance in the morning!" All the forest bees laughed. Finally, the Forest Queen agreed to unite. They then visited the Mountain Bee and Garden Bee colonies in the same way. After deliberation, the four colonies agreed to join forces.

They devised a plan. Bima and Cici were tasked with luring the termites, while the other bees prepared traps. When the battle began, Bima and Cici flew low in front of the termites, making them angry and chase them. "Hey, stupid termites! Come here if you dare!" shouted Bima while spinning around. The termites ran fast, but they did not realize they were being led to a large hole covered with leaves. One by one, the termites fell into the hole. Karto, the termite leader, managed to avoid it and attacked Cici. Cici was almost caught, but Bima came to the rescue by crashing into Karto. They rolled on the ground. "Let go of my friend!" shouted Bima.

In the midst of the chaos, an old bee from the Mountain colony, named Mbah Jenggot, shouted, "Children, remember manners! Don't use harsh words!" Bima realized his mistake. He then said to Karto, "Sorry, I didn't mean to insult you. But please stop this logging. Let's find a way out together." Karto, surprised by the apology, stopped his attack. "We only need wood for our palace," he said softly. Cici had an idea. "Across the valley, there is a fallen tree that is already dry. You can use it without destroying the forest."

Karto agreed. The termites stopped cutting and went to the fallen tree. All the bees cheered. Queen Sekar hugged Bima and Cici. "You have shown that unity and good manners can overcome hostility," she said. From that day on, the bee colonies lived in harmony and helped each other. The flower field bloomed again, and the bees flew happily under the sunlight.

The moral of this story is: Unity and cooperation can overcome all differences and hostilities. By uniting, we can face big problems that cannot be solved alone. Additionally, maintaining good manners and apologizing when wrong are keys to repairing relationships and creating peace.
