The Righteous Panda

In a green valley surrounded by misty mountains, there lived a little panda named Ping. He lived with his grandfather, Grandpa Bo, in a simple bamboo house. Grandpa Bo was a famous storyteller who often told tales of the Tang Dynasty's glory. However, Ping preferred playing in the river to listening to his grandfather's stories.

One day, Grandpa Bo fell ill. He lay weak on a bamboo mat. "Ping, I want you to go to the Forbidden City to get a magical medicine from the imperial physician," whispered Grandpa Bo. Ping nodded, though his heart was hesitant. He had never traveled far alone.

With a bag of rice cakes and a bottle of water, Ping began his journey. The forest was dark and silent. Suddenly, an old monkey jumped from a tree. "Hey, Panda! Are you lost?" asked Monkey Kintel, chuckling. Ping smiled. "I'm looking for the way to the Forbidden City." Monkey Kintel patted his shoulder. "I'll accompany you! But you must share your rice cakes!" They laughed together.

Their journey was full of adventures. At a river, they met Crocodile Bunglon, who loved to sing. "If you can guess my song, you may pass!" exclaimed Crocodile Bunglon. Monkey Kintel started dancing ridiculously until Crocodile Bunglon laughed heartily. "I give up! You're so funny!" Finally, they were allowed to cross.

Passing through a small village, Ping saw an old grandmother struggling with a basket. He immediately helped. "Thank you, Panda. You are a polite child," said Grandma Sari. Ping smiled shyly. Monkey Kintel whispered, "Panda, you are so kind! I feel ashamed." Ping replied, "My grandfather always taught me to respect the elderly."

They arrived at the foot of Jade Mountain. There, they met fierce Tiger Guntur. "Who dares enter my territory?" roared Tiger Guntur. Ping stepped forward politely. "Forgive us, Mr. Tiger. We only wish to pass to find medicine for my grandfather." Tiger Guntur was surprised by Ping's politeness. "Alright, you may pass. But your silly friend must dance!" Monkey Kintel then danced in the funniest way, making Tiger Guntur laugh.

Upon arriving at the Forbidden City, they were greeted by the imperial physician, Doctor Liang. Ping told him about his grandfather's condition. Doctor Liang gave a special potion. "This is the medicine. But you must return before sunset, or it will lose its potency," warned Doctor Liang. Ping thanked him with a deep bow.

The journey home felt harder. Ping almost gave up when his feet blistered. Monkey Kintel encouraged him. "Come on, Panda! Remember your grandfather!" They ran as fast as they could. As the sun began to set, they arrived home. Ping immediately gave the potion to Grandpa Bo.

Grandpa Bo drank the potion and gradually recovered. He smiled proudly at Ping. "You have shown courage, politeness, and true friendship, my grandson." Ping hugged his grandfather tightly. Monkey Kintel jumped for joy. From that day on, Ping diligently listened to his grandfather's stories and learned about history.
